Snowshoe walks at Lac Blanc in the Vosges Mountains
Fancy enjoying the stunning snow-covered landscapes of the Vosges Mountains? Head to the heights of Lac Blanc for a snowshoe walk.
Set off on a snow-filled adventure with these 5 marked and groomed trails, starting from the Lac Blanc 1200 Ski Resort. They offer various levels of difficulty, ranging from 3 to 14 kilometres. From the Route des Crêtes to the Tête des Faux, passing through snow-covered fir forests, you’ll be amazed by these breathtaking views.
Access to the trails is free: check the Nordic area’s snow report for details of accessibility.
‼️ Make sure to follow the snowshoe waymarking signs carefully and stay on the designated snowshoe trails, avoiding the cross-country ski tracks, which are lovingly and carefully groomed by the station team. If you walk on them with snowshoes, they become unusable for skiing.

Tips for Snowshoe Walks
Before setting off on a snowshoe walk in the mountains, here are a few tips:
- check the weather before heading out,
- fully charge your mobile phone: cold weather can cause it to drain faster than usual,
- stick to marked trails only,
- avoid sensitive areas that might disturb wildlife,
- if you bring your dog, keep it on a lead and stay on marked paths,
- walk in a group, keeping tracks close together,
- choose your route wisely, considering the fitness level of each participant and the duration of the hike—snowshoeing can be suitable for everyone,
- return before 5 pm, ideally before dark: in winter, it can get dark as early as 4:30 pm, making navigation and judging distances challenging. Additionally, rescue services operate until 5 pm, and beyond that time, snow groomers may be active on trails, particularly along the Route des Crêtes, posing a potential hazard.
