Rock climbing

Rock climbing at Lac Blanc!

Lac Blanc offers a unique climbing experience in the heart of the Vosges, on natural sites such as Rocher Hans. This site provides a range of routes suitable for experienced climbers.

For beginners, it is recommended to hire a professional guide.

The exceptional natural setting allows you to combine sport, discovery, and enjoyment, while respecting the environment.

Let's embrace the 'quiétude attitude'

Good habits when practicing Climbing and Mountaineering:

  • I climb only on sites accredited by the FFME or the CAF.
  • I do not open routes on non-equipped sites.
  • I stay informed about the nesting sites of rock-dwelling species: Peregrine Falcon, Eurasian Eagle-Owl, and Raven.
  • I avoid known Peregrine Falcon nesting sites before July 1st, and before August 1st for the Eurasian Eagle-Owl.
  • I park my vehicle in designated areas and follow the marked trails for the approach walk.
  • I do not set up sound systems (Bluetooth speaker or other devices) at the site.

If you're looking for a climbing spot with breathtaking views in the Vosges, head for the Hans rock overlooking Lac Blanc. You won't be disappointed!

From the Lac Blanc dam car park, take the path marked with the red and white circle towards the rock. About 20 minutes later, at the foot of the Tour de la Vierge, a small steep path will lead you to the forty or so equipped routes ranging from 5b to 7b. On the granite rock, routes from 6 to 110m await you.

The site is mainly dedicated to sporty climbers. For beginners, a professional guide is strongly recommended.

The Hans rock is located in a state-owned biological reserve. It is not accessible in winter in snowy conditions.

The opening dates are purely indicative, so be sure to check the weather conditions before you go.
